it was weird today

hey guys today when i drove my car in the morning to work my temp was perfect it didnt even go to the middle it was just below the middle like 190. But after i got off at 3 in the afternoon as i was driving almost home my temp gauge was a bit below the 3/4 mark of the gauge, when i pulled in at my house i opened the hood to check the fans, they were on but the temp didnt go down the needle was just staying below 3/4. i checked for leaks no leaks detected, then i pulled the overflow dip stick and the mark was on cold, when the gauge was at 3/4. I then turned the car off and let it sit for like a minute, then i turned it on and letted it run i checked the overflow dip stick again and the mark was on hot and the temp went down back to 221 like its suppossed too.

Now can someone expain to me why my temp didnt go down when the fans were on, why did the dip stick of the overflow showed cold when the temp was @3/4. And why it showed hot on the overflow dipstick after i let it sit.

Thank u guys for the help

Sounds to me you got air in the system. It happens. Plus take a look at your
Your oil cooler lines. I had a rub hole where the bracket holds it and by chance do you have heat?
My heater core musta failed or I have major air in it cause sometimes my temp
Will climb up to 200 and then drop to 150 and all of a sudden I have heat the rest
Of the time zero heat and 150 temp. My fans are on 100% of the time btw

I'm a 6 speed too so maybe I'm wrong but I thought there was a coolant line tied into where the oil filter was

That is for the engine oil cooler. Some cars have it and some don't depending on the model year and options.
