Weird stumbling when stoping
Ok, there's a weird stumbling of rpms when stopping... when you break, the rpms usually stay at around 750-1000rpm right... well SOMETIMES, not always, when stoping, my car's rpms will drop until 500 an the engine seems to miss and stumble... sometimes it even dies (usually when im turning the wheel) and the CHECK GAUGES light comes on... i turn it back on and everything is back to normal
I can keep it from halting by giving it some gas but it wont even out until it goes above 1000-1100 rpm... then everything goes back to normal... it does this warm and cold and just randomly... there's no pattern of any kind and no check engine light
Any ideas on what could be causing this problem? Is my computer going crazy?

i know they are gonna tell you that its your opti but i think it might be the coil or more likely a dirty throttle body.
buy some airintake cleaner or carb cleaner and spray some in there with the engine running and ill get clean.

Now that you guys mention it... I recently cleaned my CAI... I had to use my car right away after cleaning it and I'm not sure if I waited long enough for the red oil to dry up on the filter
Could a drop of that stuff be causing it? What should I check besides de MAF and throttle body and how can I clean my MAF sensor?

as for cleaning the MAF probably some electronics cleaner

I just found this thread though...

So the oil could be causing the hesitation
let us know if cleaning the MAF works. do you have a buddy whose MAF you can take right quick to see if that does the trick? remember to unplug the battery so the tables will start back at square one.
I am going with the IAC(idle air control) on this one. It seems to me when you come to a stop and the throttle blades close, the IAC doesnt respond quick enough to allow the volume of air needed to keep the motor running.

A vacuum leak would have the opposite effect of what you are experiencing. It is my my opinion your car dies from lack of air and a vacuum leak actually sucks in extra air so if you had a leak your RPMs should stick high.. not drop so low it kills the motor.
I am also going to go with IAC on this one. If it was your opti, u would experience it more and more frequently, and u would most likely have more problems. MAF is a very good possibility, mine got very dirty and caused my car to stall out at stoplights. A vacuum leak would cause the idle to be crappy all the time. I was gonna say plug wire, because i had a plug wire burn and arc like crazy which caused my rpms to jump around quite a bit. I did all of the above cleaning, including the throttle body and it helped out a great deal, elimated the problem in fact. -Michael
