weird problem when the z warms up...

in the last few days i have put in 3.73's, i dont think there would be any relation to my problem here, but ya never know. stranger things hve happend. i also put in my 160 hypertech today, some coolant got behind where the opti got wet a little. when i tried to start it up, she wouldnt go. i first thought it was the opti, but then i swapped the ignition coil and it started right up. drove for about 20 30 mins and then the tach needle started jumping and then it died. after i let it cool for about 20 mins, started right up again. could it be the ignition modual?? ANYONE that has ANY idea, please gimmie your thoughts.

cagle did only the tach jump up and down or all the gauges? Mine did the same thing but it was all my gauges and then it died. It ended up being an ignition switch. Might want to check that considering your mileage. Who did you get the 3.73's from and who installed them i am leaning toward 3.73's i want to beable to get some traction

i wish i knew buddy. by the time i noticed the tach jumpin, it was D-E-A-D. but whats weird is that it wouldnt start ATALL untill i switched the coil. and i orderd them new from summit, they were like 200 with the ratech install kit. not too bad i didnt think. i had a guy i used ta work with help me out, only cost me 40 bucks and a 6er. i can help ya out with them if ya need, its not that hard at all. i figured it would be, but not too bad. but if you want this other guy then i can hook ya up. and what did your ignition switch run ya??

I agree on the ignition module above the coil. A friend of mine had the same problem you do and we took my coil and igntion setup and stuck it on his car and it fired right up and has been going ever since (my car is still down for upgrades ) If you have anyone that has an LT1 around you ask them to let you borrow the complete coil and module and stick it on your car. This is an easy thing to do and will rule it out fairly quick. I would bet that this is the problem.
