weird problem: car won't shift out of 2nd at WOT with shifter at 3

cam install is done. i was driving the car around for a couple days and had a low-range miss but it ran strong from 2500 to redline. i ran it up through first and second and then it just bounced off the rev limiter when it should have shifted to third (the gear indicator was in 3rd). when the gear indicator is in 2nd it still shifts to 2nd, so i know it should shift to third while it's on 3. When i put it in Drive it shifted fine! could my miss be causing this?
btw, i identified the miss as a burnt plug wire.
thanks,
Michael

First check low fluid
then if your stuffs not tuned it could be missing, when it misses it will cause trouble shiftin.

well it's definately missing. i'm putting new plug wires on it thursday and we'll see how it does then.
are you saying since i'm on a stock tune at this time that you think it could be causing a miss too?
