Weird electrical problem.
Weird electrical problem.
Car ran fine on the way home from Florida. Got about 700 miles into the trip and the cruise control stopped working. No biggie I dont use it much anyway. Three days ago the alarms stops honking twice when armed and just honks once. No biggie the car still locks. The car now pops the IP dimmer fuse anytime I take a hard left turn. Does anyone have a wiring diagram? I took the fuse panel off and looked at the wires under the dash and looked at them to see if maybe any were pinched or bare.... nothing. Put it back together and the car worked perfect. Everything was back to normal. I thought for sure all that work had paid off. On the ride home from my buds house the cruise control stopped working again. Now anytime in the hard left turn the fuse pops. The alarm is working fine. Other than that the car has not other electrical issues. Any idea where I should hunt down this gremlin?
Helps to know a little more about you vehicle
This is clearly a case of not giving us enough information about your vehicle.
Assuming it's pre OBDII, the wire you want to look at is the grey wire coming from the IP Dimmer fuse. On a pontiac it has a huge splice 4 cm from the Instrument cluster. But on the chevy, the splice is 4 cm from the Rear defogger switch.
If this has come un wrapped and is touching ground somewhere, it will pop the fuse. Could be close to ground on that side and touches when you corner.

Name is Mean Green 97 Z. HAHA Funny question. It is a 97 Z .... green.... and it had the grey wire for the IP dimmer fuse. I couldn't trace it very far.... it goes behind the hard metal console.
you should put that info in your sig, alot could have changed since 2000 when you made that screen name
but it def sounds like a exposed wire under the dash, try to follow that wire from the fuse up and look very closely at the wire for sings of burning or discoloration
