weird crank

so when I put my new starter in and tried to turn the car over. It tries and then stops and loses power. The current draw to the starter is fine, the ground is fine.

Could the timing be off???? Or the opti pin not be seated correctly? It's a 94, instead of the 96 that my user ID says.

Thanks.

Depends. Did you do something more than just put a starter in? Is there more to the story?

yeah sorry, it's been a total strip down of the front of the motor. It ran before I had to replace the water pump driveshaft, opti, starter, and ignition module. Replaced all of that and put it back together.

If special care was not taken to orient the opti, then I would say it was a suspect. Another very common mistake is that the spark plug wires are not in the correct position. Make sure your battery cables are tight, also.
