Why am I getting around 6mpg??? Should I get my injectors cleaned or what do any of you suggest?

 

how many mile on the car? last time you did a tune up? last time did you change the up stream O2's?

 

Where is your foot with respect to the floor???? Although that shouldn't cause 6mpg it may not help. I'd recommend a general tuneup.

 

the car has 69k, it just got a tuneup. It got the good spark plugs too. The 02's that are on the manifolds?? Nope havnt done that.

 

Are you sure youre doing your math correctly?

 

yea im sure, its getting between 6-8mpg

 

right now it has 53 miles and the tank is on the half mark.

 

Well, I'd check for a leak somewhere. Maybe put some cardboard under the car overnight and see if there is any fluid in the morning. Check around the injectors see if you can see any puddles of fuel, maybe the injectors are leaking when the motors off, smell the oil to see if it smells like gas.

 

Since you calculated mpg im sure your going by your trip odometer, but I want to say in regards to the gas level gauge, I think many people's gas gauges are off on these cars, the two Ive had were off so i wouldn't go by that too much.

 

You can't always trust the guage. I'd fill the tank up and make sure that it is in fact 1/2 full. Is there a SES light on?

 

yea the ses light is on. I know one of my o'2 is out.

 

and you think this will not effect mileage?????????

 

Check your fuel pressure regulator as well. Sometimes when they go out they can start pushing fuel through the vacuum line as well. And check your tire pressures, look for anything else unusual as well, plugs & wires, etc.

 

oh so my o2's affect my gas mileage? But I still have 3 other o2's working??? I just checked my injectors and there is no fuel leaking. Also there is no gas in my oil . Where is the fuel pressure regulator? To check the plugs is a pain!! especially on the side where the alternator is.

 

replace to O2 first. that is where your problem is.......
