weight of bare shortblock

Can anyone tell me the weight of a bare Lt1 short block?

I thought it was about 180 or so. I can pick one up by myself (I weigh 170) but feel it in my nuts if I do it wrong.

Its less than 150. I'm going to say around 145lbs. UPS won't send anything heavier than 150lbs through UPS Ground service. You can buy a box that is a perfect fit for a bare block at Walmart .

Ryan, you've put one in a cardboard box and sent it UPS ground??? I don't doubt your word, but I find that incredible. How much did it cost?

A "short block" usually means a block and rotating assembly so:

bare block ~180 #
crank ~55#
rods, pisltons, rings.oil pump, etc. ~25 # or

about 260+# for a short block.

That sounds about right.. my shortblock shipping receipt from the freight company noted 300 lbs, shortblock on a pallet.

My friend and I lifted it off the back of my pickup truck.
