Weak starting

At first start up, she turns over easily. after I drive then shut it off and go to start it back up, she turns over very lazy and even stops in the middle of turning over. Even my fuel pressure gauge changes color like I unhooked the battery.

I installed a new LT4 starter, newer cables and its a good battery. any ideas?

Re: Weak starting

How do you get it back to an "easy start" condition? Is it cooling off then just starts easy again?

Re: Weak starting

Does it have an aftermarket tune?

If the timing was advanced enough on cranking RPM's I could see it being a problem once it is hot and running on Closed Loop.

Re: Weak starting

my car has done the same thing for years. Starts fine cold but if it's warm it has a hard time turning over and will stop in the middle then muster up the power to turn over.

replaced battery, starter, wrapped new starter in starter heat wrap, grounds are good, etc.

The only thing left for me to try to replace is the ignition switch.

Are you sure it's "nice and clean"? Was the block painted?

Re: Weak starting

Did you check the cables for corrosion?

Re: Weak starting

I bought a replacement used set. They looked good when i installed the new motor. I cant see any corrosion but that doesn't mean there isn't any. I have cut wires before and inside they are corroded.

Re: Weak starting

Can anybody confirm that the symptoms the OP is having is caused by the ignition switch? My car just started doing it out of nowhere. All of my grounds were cleaned when I had my motor out for a rebuild so I can confirm that they're all good.

I've replaced everything else and the only thing I ever read that could cause it as well was the ignition switch but I never wanted to take the time to replace that.
