waterpump stuck -advice needed

well, i tried to replace my stock waterpump today. This was the first real work i've done on a car and i must say im pretty discouraged. After 2.5 hours of work i finally got everything free of the waterpump but now ..I can not budge it for the life of me. So, any suggestions on how to get the thing free. Appreciate any tips.

only thing i didnt do was remove the 3 bolts on the crank pully because the haneys manual didnt say too.

Josh

Your gonna need a big screwdriver or crow bar and pry it out STRAIGHT to bReak the gasket. It's stuck on there pretty good.

with the water ump, take the 6 bolts out and then get a rubber mallet and beat the redneck living crap out of it.

if that doesnt work, get a reall hmmer and smack the top of the alot!!

Anywhere the screwdriver/etc will fit. Don't worry about breaking it. People beat on the wp driveshaft with a BFH all the time. The water pump sits on 2 doewls, that's why you will have to pry it out straight.

Just beat it till it comes off. I had to take mine off for opti trouble, if you hammer it back and forth a couple of times it'll start moving.
If you pry just don't stick it in between the gasket surfaces or you could be facing a permanent leak.

If you've gotten all six bolts out, it shouldn't be too hard to remove. I've seen people beat on them to loosen them up when they forgot the two center bolts on each side.

make sure all 6 bolts are off.shouldnt take much beating to break the gasket seal but get a rubber mallet or hammer and wack it until it breaks free then pull straight off.
