waterpump q's

alright, turns out my freezeplug (expansion plug, whatever) has rusted all the way through and is leaking (previous owner did NOT take care of the car)
now, since me and my uncle are gonna have to take down the whole alternator, ps pump, etc. you think it'd be wise to replace the w/pump?
i figure, it's got 53k on it now, might as well replace it so it doesn't destroy my opti later
any thoughts on that? good idea or not?

and...if i do replace it, are refurbished any good?
the difference in price is 20$ and i might spring the extra 20 just for the peace of mind
but if the refurbed is as good as the new one, i'll go with that one
just seeing if anybody has a refurbed and how well it has held up for them

thanks in advance, sorry for the length

I just replaced my wp with a remanufactured one. We'll see how it turns out and I'll let ya know. Still have a couple of things with the car to put back together. I got my wp from pep boys for about $50.
