WaterPump Internals..Shoebox?
Well my WP is crap now..its weeping (through the weep hole lol)....anyways, Instead of purchasing a brand new one for atleast 135$....(I wont go refurbished, the quality is CRAP!!!..mold is lowsy, metal is all rough surfaced, bolt holes are not always circular (somewhat flattened in some cases)...i know, i checked all the ones at the parts stores)...yeah i made them pull them all out.Anyways, I asked all the places about a 'rebuild kit' for the WP...Ive never heard of it, but I took off the cover of my WP (8mm bolts) and its quite simple! Why pay so dang much when you can replace just the bearing or seals inside..If this is possible, does anyone make a 'rebuild kit' for WPs to save a little cash? All you're paying for is all that heavy metal (anywhere from 6-9lbs for a WP) and some little bearings..its rediculous.
If they dont make a rebuild kit, Shoebox...I was curious if you had a diagram that shows how to tear apart the internals of a WP for a 94 LT1....If you do, can you please post it? thanks a lot!
If anyone else has torn one apart, let me know how it went and what all it involves! Thanks guys, can always count on z28.com for everything!
I don't know of a "rebuild kit" for the pump, but there may be one somewhere. I have not seen one in the GM parts book. Dave is correct in that you can find info on removing the internals by looking at an electric water pump install page, like Ken's.
