Water pump weepage

'94Z M6

How much weepage is OK?

Replaced the water pump a year ago, new AC/Delco. Put a clear tube in the weep hole with a couple loops and extended it past the cross member. Stayed dry with just maybe a little condensation.

Took a 2k mile trip in a week last month and when I returned the drip loops had about one tablespoon of coolant (total) in them. Is this too much or normal? (Yes, this engine makes me paranoid).

Thanks

Its normal for new waterpumps to have a little seepage. Seeing as yours has been in for a year I might have it checked out. Your opti lives right under that pump and lets just say they dont respond well to condensation or liquid....or well anything for that matter.

When it leaks it is on the way out.The brgs have wear causing the carbon seal to leak.
Ya can run it but ya are risking your opti, which don't like water on it.
Would be simplier to change it now and pay half the price than later when it has dumped water all over the opti-- It will too.

I would keep a very close eye on it. If it starts leaking more I would get a new one.

My brand new GM WP went out about a year after I replaced it during a opti install. I wasnt happy with it since it only took a year to bust, so I went with a CSR E-WP one, and am happy I did. It was a good boost in power over the stocker. Plus I can go to a cheaper Cloyes Timing chain when I want to replace the timing chain during the cam install.
