Water pump replacement question

Ok I have the old water pump off and I'm ready to put the new one on except I can't get the water pump driveshaft coupling off the old water pump. Isn't it supposed to just pull off? I tried prying it out with a screwdriver and broke the tip off and I tried using some pliers and it hasn't moved at all. Here are some pictures of the old water pump with the coupling and the new one without it. I hope I don't have to get a new one from the dealership, they wanted $35!

Re: Water pump replacement question

Spray the inside of the coupling with penetrating oil and let it soak in.

I guess my stuck to the motor part, cuz when I took my pump off I never saw that thing, and when I put it back on it just slid back in again.

Ok I just got back from my friends house and we got it out. I tried the PB with no luck so we put it in a vice and hammered on it and it finally came off. Thanks for the help guys.
