Water pump and Opti Probs

WHen you pull the water pump on the LT1 even after you drain the radiator and everything and the car is on ramps no coolant should flow out should it? or do I have to cover up the Opti cuz it's brand new? also the new opti is leaking engine oil and can;t figure out why, a shop just changed it and I dont think they replaced the seal should I take it back to them or is this yet another problem? thanks

Even if you drain the radiator, there will be some coolant in the block. It can only be removed by opening the block drains. If you use relative caution, you don't have to drain the block. When you take out the water pump's lower bolts, coolant will come out. Just direct it away from or protect the opti.
The opti does not leak oil. Perhaps the seal behind it in the timing cover is leaking (or maybe even the water pump shaft seal).
It would be nice to include the year of your car when posting for help. Not everything is the same on all years (including the optispark).

If it is leaking right where they were working, I would suspect they caused a problem. Maybe they did replace the seal, but did a poor job.

Only you can answer that one. Your call. I am assuming since you had a shop do the work, you don't do your own, so looks like your options are limited. I would at least have them take a look to confirm or deny what happened.
