weep hole is showing signs of old age. I want to replace it before it messes with the opti.I heard of elec. water pump replacements for the lt1 that give back hp. How is this ,if wp runs off cam?any sugestions & why? thanks!

 

Electric water pumps do not have the parasitic hp loss as an OE water pump does since the electric pump does not use the cam to spin it.

 

so your saing go with a elec.wp. which one psi,
meziere,moroso, or other? did you change yours out?
how much better preform?

 

I changed mine out this winter with a Meziere pump. It was about $200 from www.summitracing.com

It is working great, but there is always the chance that it could suddenly fail and strand me somewhere. If you're looking for a little extra power then I think any of the pumps motownz listed will be fine. However, I believe you can get a remanufactured mechanical pump from NAPA for ~$60.

 

the electric WPs give you more HP but dont lsat as long and will suddenly fail unlike the mechanical which will last longer more than likely and will show signs of failure....

more HP or longer lasting...your choice

 

I USE THE MEZIERE. IT HAS A 2,400 hour continuous rating. That come out to about 2 year if your ran your car gfor a striaght 3 hour for every day of the year. If you are concerned about the pump quiting on you, wire in a idiot light.
