Re: Water Pump Impeller Shaft

I'm hitting it in the right spot with the punch... it just isn't moving. I've been using that guide somewhat and another one(Meziere). I'll keep pounding away, hopefully it'll happen lol. Any other advice?

if you can't get it like that you are going to need to have it pressed out.

Re: Water Pump Impeller Shaft

Not to be argumentative but it can be done that way as many other have successfully done it.

I will agree that a press is the preferred method and probably the most time effective assuming a press is close by.

If you decide to use the hammer and punch method just make sure that you are driving it from the impeller side towards the back of the pump housing.
It is also best to support the housing as much as possible without obstructing the shaft from moving backwards.

Punch/Hammer combo isn't going to work. I'll be taking it to a machine shop to have it pressed out.

That looks like it's in there pretty good.

Re: Water Pump Impeller Shaft

Got it pressed out this morning for $10

It was definately in there good. Either the housing was going to break or the shaft was coming out lol.
