Water Pump Hose Question! Urgent Help, Please!!

I blew a coolant hose on my '96 Z28 Friday nite where I lost about 75% of my coolant. I have the car on ramps today but I'm puzzled with the hose that broke loose.

If you're facing the front of the car it's the hose connected to the left bottom side of the water pump with a hose clamp. About a couple of inches down on this hose there's two silver machined compression fittings and inside this piece is a spring for some reason. This is the part of the hose that blew out on me.

It looks simple enough to remove the hose clamp going to the water pump but after I followed the hose it ended up routing somewhere underneath the A/C condenser to another machined compression fitting.

Any idea what this part is and how easy it is to replace everything associated with this hose??? Is it neccessary to cut a portion off and tie it into the existing hose???

Thanks in advance!!!

That's one of your heater hoses that continues all the way to the firewall. No sure if you can "splice" them.

Ok, I went through my shop manuals and it's got this listed as the Flow Control Valve inline in the hose connected to the Heater Inlet Pipe on the Water Pump. All the auto part shops around here do not carry this part so I'm going to have to contact my dealer come Monday. I'm just curious how I can reconnect this part to the hoses without having to replace the entire line that runs to the firewall.

Any thoughts/ideas???

A search for 'heater hose' worked wonders..
I posted a lot of good info in some of these posts about hoses and the swaged on clamps [remnoval with Dremel, etc etc]

Not to sound sarcastic, either , but I read your article prior to posting, very informativem, thanks. Looking for other opinions on the subject, too.
