Water pump drive seal
I had the water pump drive seal leaking oil on a 93 z28. The seal that I pulled off the timing chain cover wasn't made the same as the one that I had to order from the dealership. Upon trying to put the new seal on the shaft the outer seal on the back would fold itself into the main hole in it. I thought of this and it actually worked like a champ. If you find yourself trying to replace this seal make sure you have a "super sharpie" yes the marker. Not the small one but the next size up. The marker cap gradually increases in size so you can slide the seal on it and the end of the cap is the same size as the water pump drive shaft. Just make sure you break off the cap clip on the marker and make it smooth so it wont mess up the seal. Hey desperate times call for desperate measures
and it worked!!!!
and it worked!!!!
Re: Water pump drive seal
I gotta put this TTT. I did a search after ruining a seal
I tried a few different sockets, but none the right size would fit over the spline. Im going to get a sharpie and a new seal now. Im just pissed because I have to get another front cover kit to get that seal
