I stripped the threads with the bolts in a new waterpump i bought.. You get what you paid for... should have stuck with GM... now what size would I be able to tap the threads a little to put new bolts in? I don't have a tap set I'll go buy one and i don't want to buy one i can't use... the hardware store by my house has lots of bolts hopefully one will fit...

 

The stock bolt size and thread is M6 x 1.

 

Most autoparts stores have a bunch of nuts and bolts on a cable to compare threads with. Just carry one of your good bolts with you up to autozone, etc. and you won't have to wait till monday. If you can get a drill to it, put in a heli-coil and you'll never have to worry about it again.

you drill the hole out to a larger size, tap it and put in a threaded steel insert that locks in the hole.

 

Sweet... i googled it... think this is available locally??? I checked sears.com and they don't have it... Autopart stores or hardware stores?? Home depot?

 

A decently stocked parts store should have them.
