have a place with proper equipment check your high and low side pressures. after that make sure nothing is obstructing airflow over your core. after that its probably going to be a problem with your ac core. or a pinhole leak letting out all your 134a.

I don't believe in wasting money at shops.

There was a leak, but the line has been replaced.

The system is holding pressure.

how about checking to see if the compresser is working and engauging.. also there may be a trouble code stored that says a/c clutch disengauge it doesnt cause the check engine light to come on but it will cause the a/c clutch not to work.

THe compressor would be the first place to look in this case. That's not the problem.

Did you take it to a shop? You cant just slap on a new compressor and refill at home, you have to go to a shop and have it vacuumed so any residual water can be removed. This keeps your freon from becoming thick or even solid with ice crystals. Could explain your situation...

Re: Warm A/C what the????

Most people dont know that if you over charge your system, it wont work either. With too much freon the condencer freezes up and will not work properly... Most of the time this can be avoided by having the system recharged by someone that has a machine with pressure gauges on it, rather than hooking the one line and the freon can that you can buy at the local part store...have your system checked to see if its over charged... good luck!

I tried to vaccum and charge mine after I reinstalled my engine. No go. Took it to a shop and a C note later, cold air. I noticed on Autotap that they charged it to 110 pounds. The cans I was using said something like 35 pounds max.

Re: Warm A/C what the????

Follow your ac lines toward the firewall. They go into the expansion valve which regulates the amount of refrigerant entering the evaporator. This valve can become dirty or even stuck which would keep it from letting refrigerant circulate through the system.

compressor off, both sides equalize to around 100-130psi, compressor on, low side is mid 30s and high side can be anywhere from 180-300, depending on temp

yep it probably just needed evacuation. think if it already had atmospheric pressure in it. it makes no sense to gauge it because 1)it'll be a false reading and 2) who cares what the gauge reads because the system won't work. go get it sucked down for about an hour, refill it and watch that beyotch turn into a snow blower. if you were in houston, i'd do it for you. i'll make it so cold you catch a cold. A/C work is kind of like alignments, you take your time, do it right, and its golden when you are done.
