want low 13's or even better high 12's with LT1....

Ok well im getting ready to swap a LT1 into my 99 s10 and i am wanting to have the motor int he low 13s before it even goes into the engine bay. As of right now it will have Sanderson s10v8 conversion headers with 1 5/8 primaries and a 2.5 collector with 2.5 inch exhaust all the way back. Is this bad? Do i need 3 inch you think? Next i want to go with a cam. Do i need to change anything else on the motor with the cam besides the usual gaskets? What cam would work best on this motor? I dont want a wild or extreme cam. I want a nice streetable cam. Also what about a stall? Would this help dip down into the 12's or no? What are your suggestions guys? This is my first time working with an LT1 and dont know what works best on these motors and what to stay away from.

go with the hot cam kit. Your truck have a manual, or auto? If auto, then get a stall convertor

Yes i have an auto and what stall would be good for these trannys? Also i would go with the hotcam kit but i have searched and it seems that people say the hotcam is good if i must worry about emmisions and there are better cams out there for more power. I really want know what those are? I am looking in summit right now and see the comp cams. Does anyone have any experience in those? Also What about other mods like bigger injectors or such? I will have a wlabro 255 LPH pump installed also since i am going from a 2.2 4 cyl to a 5.7 v8 i need more fuel.

Yeah but you also said you don't want a wild or extreme cam and that you wanted a streetable one. In that case your describing a HotCam.

Here listen...

Don't let people tell you that the 306 isn't streetable. I love it and it isn't bad in traffic. Times in the sig are on a slipping tranny.

As for the torque converter. you will need to make that choice based on your cam and where you will be making your powerband. I am doin a 3200 or 3500 this winter when I rebuild the tranny along with some 3.73s. Should net me 11s I am hoping.

are you planning on switching over all the electronics into your car too? cause if your worried about that i know that summit has just introduced a carborated intake for the lt1... you could prolly get more power out of this and not have to worry about a pcm and all that freakin wireing... just a thought. it also says that the runners are longer, so you should be making more power than the stock manifold on the car... good luck with it man.

my friend put a lt1 with the hotcam kit with the sanderson headers and i belive that the exhaust is 2.5" back true duals

with a cyclone stall, rebuilt tranny with the upgraded clutch packs to handle the extra power and 3.73's

he's running 13.4x's@103ish

best thing is with the zq8 suspension, it looks the same next to a v6 s-10 till it starts

search for tilley if you have any questions

Yes my friend Steve is right... 13.40's with that setup. I think with a 3000 stall and a little bit of a diet my dime would run 12's.
Keep in mind our trucks may be small but they are still heavy. Mine weighed in at 3945 lbs! with a full tank of gas. Good luck, and if you have any questions let me know.

hey tilley did you do the swap yourself? How was it?

Im thinking about doing a comp cam with a 3000 stall and 2.5 inch exhaust should put me low 13s hopefully. What kind of cam though. I want a lobey cam i think. one that sounds like a friggin old school chevelle or something but can still be driven nicely on the street. What kind of bolt ons will give me power?
