Walbro is very loud, video inside

Here's the deal....my car had ~2.5-3.0 gallons in it. Whenever I would get on it and the front would lift, it would cut out and backfire. So I figured it was low on gas....went to the gas station, filled up, and now it runs fine. However, my fuel pump has gotten louder
The car still pulls hard up top, so I'm not sure if this is a big deal or what...

Don't know, but we did the cut hole in trunk method and did not cover it back up. Mine is very loud.

Might pull it out (if its easy for you) and see if the little filter or something came off.

My hole is open too...and the rear deck panel is out, as well as the rear passenger side panel so maybe that has something to do with it.

I noticed when it's cold it's not loud, then it will randomly get loud once the car is warmed up.

I notice mine more sometimes depending on stereo/exhaust. Some times its more drowned out that others. But it never changes itself. Are we talking between full and empty, or it changes every few minutes?

It started cutting out and ****, so I filled the tank....had 10.5 gallons in it already. Still does the same crap, so I guess the pump is bad....

Thunder Racing and Walbro both told me they couldn't help me

I took the pump out and cleaned it up....it had a minor amount of crap in the screen. Put it all back together and it seems fine now.

Matt,

It sounds like you had a vacuum, running in the background there. Glad to hear you got it figured out, I was going to sugest cleaning it out because it sounds just like our home vacuum when something gets clogged.

BTW, Good to see you got your 12 bolt in there, now get to the track already so we see how it runs...

You must have the sock filter on the pump for it not to whine. The metal screen that is on the pump will fill up with crud from the tank and it will whine. If you're not running the sock filter, she's gonna whine like madd.

Must be true, because it's whining again...I wonder why it never did this before.

Oh well, ordered a new Walbro GSS340 from LS1speed and confirmed that it includes a sock that fits on the pump.

Bro, cancel that. Not necessary. Pull your pump, it's fine. Go to the auto store, and ask to see some in tank sock filters. Take your pump with you if you have to, but there are only a few designs. Pick one that fits. No need for a new pump.
