Smile Vortech Heads

Hello Everyone, Iam new to the site and hoping someone can help me .... I need to know is it possible to melt & crack the Vortech head... I just had my motor rebuilt.. (Well thats a Hole new Story) anyways when I ask to see these head I had he said they where melted and Crack and just throw them aways instead of letting me see them... I know for a fact the shop my car was in Has alot of hot rods, and Iam worried that he just wanted my heads.
for one of his hotrods.
Can anyone tell me what the vortech heads are made out and is it possible to do this much damage to them at one time. by the way not for sure what kind of heads are on my car now.....

Thanks for your help

Re: Vortech Heads

This is the LT forum. Since Vortec heads can't go on an LT, either you don't have Vortec heads or you don't have an LT.

Severe overheating can crack the heats but I've never seen a set of aluminum heads melt. If the heat of combustion won't melt them, overheating the engine won't

Re: Vortech Heads

You do have an LT1 like all V8 powered Camaros and firebirds, No your car didn't come with Vortech heads, just conventional aluminum LT1 heads. Your heads won't crack and melt despite what they have told you. I don't know the entire story behind this but from what i hear the shop sounds pretty sketchy. Also FWIW aluminum heads can be repaired if cracked most of the time.

Re: Vortech Heads

Thanks for the information, Trust me this has been a nitemare, but I have learn alot of things about this motor... AND yes they are past sketchy.
And I plan to have all my information when we go back to court in August.
See I twisted the crankshaft, running like 140 and the motor blow up.. upper & Lower , well that is what they told me anyways... neverless they charge me for all new parts, and in the year in half I have driven that car maybe 2months do it screwing up so its been in there shop 14mos and I still could not drive it, they told me to come get, so I did I had Gwatney Chev. to come and get to fix it, and that is where I learn that there was NO new parts on. and the engine was going to blow again.. So now Iam taking their *** to court for the 5000.00 I paid them to rebuilt it. thats it in a NUT SHELL. Best Part is Gwatney is comming to court with me. I never had any problems with my Car for 9 years now I can even drive it and still out 5000.00 so wish me luck.... And yes I have order a New GM Motor.

Once again thank you for your help..
