Vortech Elbow Headaches

Alright, I decided to get a vortech elbow which was my first mistake but it was shiny . Anyways then I had to buy a tap and die set to comply with the temperature gauge and the vented opti hose. So to do this I had to drill a hole in my elbow and tap it. Then I had to use a grind wheel to grind of the ridges of temp fitting and then use a die to put on the threads. Ok finally after cutting off an inch of the tube for a ss, I was ready to put it on. Luckly it fit pretty well, but now the engine sounds "less bad ***" according to others. However, I have a question it sounds like a vacum cleaner is under the hood now because of the new elbow. I noticed it before the install but now it is a even greater sound. I am wondering if this sound is a result of the natural vacum that is created in the intake manifold and if this is normal. Thanks for the help and opinions.

P.S. If anyone has this elbow and is installing it. The Type "R" Drillbit is an 11/32...hopefully elminating future problems for others on this mystery R bit.

Not a big deal but an "R" drill is .3390, an 11/32 is .34375.

And another thing, I noticed that when I shut the engine off it kind of makes a gulp sound. Like a last sucking in off air. Kind of strange. Yeah I used the 11/32 bit worked just fine with the tap recommended. Believe me from my headaches a 11/32 is alot easier to find than an R-bit without going to ebay.

Did you have the stock elbow with the silencer? That sound is normal and the silencer is there to try to eliminate it. Now that you have the new elbow it has no provision for silencing and now it is more noticeable. Hope that helps.
