Vigilante install... nightmare! i give up

Man what a PITA!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is my daily driver so I needed this to be done in 1 day, so i started sunday around noon. Torque arn clam shell was being a pita but got that. Then it finally came down to the 2 trasmission lines. Got the 1st one off, 2nd one stripped. Im possible to get off now. Tried removing some bellhousing bolts to drop the tranny to get more clearence for the tranny lines...

I finally gave up, and threw EVERYTHING back together. I got some price quotes to get it installed and im seeing $400-$450

The converter is brand new with free warrenty/restall and if anyone wants to buy it let me know lol

Don't give up! It really isn't that bad.

Check out some Installation pages.

You can check out Brent Franker's site, he may have something on his installation page that would help you out!

Don't give up, you will regret it, the Vigi is worth it!

Ouch, I paid 250 for the install on mine, thats the max you should pay. Its only 2-4 hours worth of labor really, so 250 is more than enough at a flate rate of $65 an hour.

It took me about 9 hours to install mine and I have never pulled the tranny before. Other than being time consuming I thought it was pretty simple. I will agree that the cooling lines are a major PITA but you should be able to drop the tranny low enough to where you can get the strip bolt out.

Yeah i paid 250 for my install......i had a 3200 but the tranny kept on heating up and i heard about a stall wall thing in the PCM that it screws up when you put anything above a 2800 stall in an obd1 car. Well i sent mine out and i got it restalled to a 2800. I couldn't even notice the 3200 stall on the street but in wall to wall traffic when it's hot out the tranny heats up hardcore and i even had a tranny cooler. My gauge was reading close to 250

My 3200 isnt bad at all in traffic, I can still move around with out breaking 2K easy. The car gets a lot hotter after the converter, since I tend to romp on it more.

I dropped my car off at a local tranny shop. They said $300 for labor which was the cheapest i had found, so I went with them. Should be done tomorrow around 4ish I hope i like it

Heatmaker, give it a rest...

it took me 6 hours to drop it and 4 to go back in. and the lines are what made it take that long i f*ck one putting it back in so that had to be fixed and one of the bell housing bolts. and that was the first time i ever did it. it saved me $500 doing it my self. dont give up try starting saturday then take a break unless ur up to it put it back in sunday.

Geez Rob I was only kiddin....but seriously though what were you using as a reference?

Even though I have a manual I dropped my tranny a bucn of times. The first time is always the hardest.

Save that $$$$ for some other mods you may want down the road later and learn how to do it yourself...you'll be happier trust me.
