Video of my first start up
I took a video of my first start up after the engine swap. I still have some loose ends to deal with, then get it tuned, but it fired up first try without a problem.
A little info:
355 forged pistons, stock bottom end
Stock heads/intake
Comp 280XFI cam
Open headers in the vid

I also wanted to thank everybody here who helded me through this project. Some people provided tech help, and some people provided funding from buying parts from me. Without all of you, it still wouldn't be done, so THANK YOU everybody

Must be your first engine install. You were so calm about it starting.....if you had done this before you probably would have been jumping up and down giggling like a little girl when it started right up
Congrats.

Congrats.
It's great when they fire up the first time, isn't it? Wait, no leaks either? Cool. Button up the exhaust, have no leaks there either and then find out your mail order tune is almost spot on. Some days we get lucky, some times not. Good job.

Thanks guys. It was my first engine swap, but I'm just a laid back guy and wasn't too worried about it not starting.
Z-Rated, yep, fired first time, no leaks. I still need to get it tuned, but I have a few other minor things to deal with first.

Shouldn't you be seating the rings? It seemed a bit short for the rings to sit well.
There are two schools of thought:
1) Put it under load and open it up (1/2 throttle for about 1/8th mile, 3/4 throttle, then full throttle). Bring it back and change the oil and filter.
2) No hard revs for the first 500 miles, gentle street driving.
3) On a new engine, rev the engine between 2K - 3K for 20 minutes.
So, not sure which direction you want to go.

Nice job. Mine started on the first half crank too, and it's a pretty awesome feeling.
Starting it initailly to check for leaks (and to see if it runs to begin with) isn't going to hurt a thing. I do, however, subsscibe to the easy and varied RPM method of breaking in an engine.

Hell yeah walker, bout time you got it goin.
Just messin with ya. Looks like your going to be able to make it to Kansas City now right ? Anyway, congrats on getting it running on the first shot, and it sounds very nice too !
