Wasn't really light, we spoke today and he said only the rear seats and the carpet were out since he was installing his N2O bottle. He's siked to get some 4.10's and try out the N2O on the setup as well. I'm guessing around 3500lbs or so.

Paul aka 2formulas, not sure if you know him or not.

The car has 3.42 gears, hince the stock 206k mile 10 bolt.

Not sure what the car weighs but Bret already addressed that and the DA was around 1200.

Yeah...he can hit gears fairly well.

Nice mph for sure but I wouldn't go with 4.10's for two reasons. #1. They will probably break easily in the 10bolt and secondly they may not work as well with n2o. Now if it's a 12bolt and a 6spd then 4.10's should be OK. Later Clint

He's going to run an 8.8 and he's still undecided on the gear, but he's also thinking about stepping up to 28" tires.

Re: VID: 11.70 at 121 n/a lt1

thanks everyone for the pprops on it

i came out slipping the clutch from about 3500 cam is made to make power above 4500 on and you can feel it too spun a lil but not bad and got full traction mid first gear (you can see it in the vid)

but hey it was the second pass on this setup and the only one of the day

i shift out of first a lil early at about 6600 and then pull the rest to around 6800 or so

as for my weight its a hardtop formula i had no carpet or plastic but still had door panels and passenger seat i have no a/c, no front swaybar

still have and want to remove the bumper supports and accesory bracket sway bar brackets all interior and miscelaneous other little things and replace some stuff with lighter parts

the rear is still the stock 10bolt as stated stcok 3.42s and posi unit stock lcas and everything else not even new bushings so i think this winter i want to try for the new rear (3.90 or 4.10) 28in tires and full suspension on it so ill have new numbers in the spring

also look for some bottle passes possibly

Man, that car is flying. REAL good MPH for a 355 with LT1 heads.

What RPM do you shift at?

Does it ever stop pulling?

Very nice. Should be moving real good once you are able to launch that thing.

Re: VID: 11.70 at 121 n/a lt1

lloyd these are the heads you made for justin that were for the turbo setup if you remember those

they actually flowed 1 or 2 cfm less than the old ones i had on here but they are working out great

im shifting at 6800 for now brett wanted me to pull higher and i would but im afraid of the stock crank in there but it taps 7k on my shift as i dont lift at all when i shift

but no it never feels like it stops pulling at all
on the dyno it was flat torque curve and the hp kept pulling pretty good and leveled off above 62 or 63 but didnt drop hard at all i just figure i have more above it than i do below so i try to keep the rpms up there more

Don't worry too much about the stock crank.... The lighter aftermarket parts and a well built bottom end shouldn't have any issue on that thing. We forget that Chevy forged cranks were not the norm everywhere else, Pontiac, Buick, Olds, Ford, Mopar etc... all ran cast cranks in their high output motors and even today guys take cast 455 Pontiac cranks stroke them (by offset grinding) and run 700+ HP thru them.

Hell if I'm doing a NA 355 I use a cast or stock crank, unless it's going to see stupid high RPM.

Nice Mph. I think the only reason that rear has held up for so long is because you havn't messed with the gear yet. They seem to shorten thier life up after a gear swap. Any new ETs yet?

so with the stock lt1 crank i should be ok with good pistons, rods, and arp bolts on the LE3 cam? what about with nitrous? and if not the stock one how about the scat/eagle cast cranks?

Our local track is no longer open for the year. I think the rear has lasted so long because he doesn't launch it hard.
