Vibration problems - You will ABSOLUTLY NOT believe this!!!

Okay, to start out, I had the nasty vibration problem. 180-degree drive shaft turns did not help a bit. I just figured that after all the stories here, it was basically useless to even try to f with it. I also did not get the vibration until I was about at 80mph so I just used it as a speed warning.

Well, one day, last month actually, my clutch fork snapped in two, cool hugh?? I had to drop the trans to fix it so I took a look at the clutch setup. I was a gnats a$$ away from the rivets so I “had” to replace the clutch assembly, if I was as bright as I thought I was. I got the flywheel ground down, put in a new clutch fork, PP, disk, TB and bolted her back up with 5LB of extra torque everywhere with some lock tight. Dumped the old tranny fluid back in, ooops that reminds me I am a quart low, bolted up the drive shaft, arm and shifter and away I went. Was easy with her for a while to let it get broken in.

When I got squirrelly, I thought I was going 60MPH but I was revving high in 5th gear and noticed something was funny. I thought for a second and it hit me, my vibration is TOTALLY gone!!!!!!!

Don’t know where it went or what it was but I have been to 90MPH and not a HINT of it anywhere. The only thing I can think of is that I did twist the rear ends nose up and down quite a bit from jacking the car up and down a few times from the front, with the parking brake on. Other than that it was a simple clutch job.

Who woulda thunk it????????????????????

Not terribly unusual. Either the pressure plate or disc could have been out of balance.

DO NOT OVER TORQUE YOUR BOLTS!!!!

Glad you got it fixed.

I had the same symptoms.. no broken clutch fork though and after my slp disk and pp was installed with a resurfaced stock flywheel the vibrations are gone... Now I just can feel that the shocks are shot.....

The only part that's hard to believe is that this was a vibration at 80mph. Problems with your clutch should have been RPM-related, not speed related. Hmmm...

I have exactly the same thing, I know it's the clutch assembly as well.

Ok guys here is my story.......

I began to notice a vibration between 60 ant 70mph.. nothing big.. in about two years it got worse. I could see my passenger seat vibrating everytime I was at 70mph. I had the tires balanced and it did not fix the problem... I never believed it was the shaft because it got gradually worse with time...so I didnt thing it would be it.

One night I got off work I crancked her up... and just sat there for a few seconds deep into my thoughts, Then for some weird reason I revved her up past 2k rpms.. something I never do when I am parked, At that momen!!! I felt something!!! I felt a misfiring and it was solidly at one cylinder all the time. I brought her up in the revs and it just slowly began to misfire and there it was... the Vibration!!!!
right between 1200 and 2200 RPMs the cylinder was not firing and it was causing the vibration.

I came outside (it was dark) check for ignition leaks.... none! I figured maybe my opty is gonna crap (I had over 130k miles then)
I decided to replace my spark plugs since theyve been there for two years.. I have never tryed the NGKs before but since I have read many posts of guys using them I said what the heck... they are cheaper than the Bosh 4 anyways.

**********Guys Problem solved**********

my vibration is gone and my mileage per gallon went up. I still have the Bosh spark plugs and can not tell wich one was the little devil... I have measured their resistance and inspected them visually and nothing!!. the ignition wires were firmly secured on them too... no cracks or excessive wear. they look Just fine... but one of them was misfiring. They all look the same. So the point being is.... that vibration could be just about anything!! and that pisses me off cause if I ever get it again it will not necessarly be the spark plugs or the shaft or tranny mount fer sure......

My car vibrates in 3rd and 4th gear from about 3000 to a little over 4000 rpms. What do you think could be the cause of this?

Okay you bunch of butt heads, lol

Anyways, I dont get it cause the car was smooth sitting still, even if I reved it up to 5k.

Maybe taking out the driveshaft cleaned my spark plug or injectors or something??????
