Re: vibration problem

If the vibration increases with speed, double check the tire balancing, it's cheap and easy.

If the vibration increases with RPM and you can feel it in the clutch pedal, it might be a flywheel issue. I'm getting a new flywheel installed tomorrow because mine is warped, it vibrates the car just sitting at idle, and it's also in the clutch.

Just tossing ideas out.

Re: vibration problem

Well, i'm no drivetrain expert, i'm just popping ideas out from my experience.

I've been told that our stock flywheels can't be cut more than once, or over a certain thickness (as with any flywheel) or they won't let the clutch disengage properly without the use of a shim. Also if they're warped, you might experience jittery clutch engagements. I had a vibration in the clutch pedal AND jittery engagements. To the best of my knowledge, the flywheel was cut at least twice, which i guess is once too many.

My car is in the shop right now getting the flywheel installed as i don't have the proper equipment to do it myself. I purchased an SLP flywheel that is 7lbs lighter than stock for approx 400 after shipping, and about 200-250 for installation. I wouldn't go right out and get a new flywheel however. If whoever installed the clutch knows what they're doing, your flywheel is probably alright, but i wouldn't totally discount it. If you have a nice local mechanic that is pretty experienced and wouldn't mind taking your car for a spin, see what he thinks.

Does the vibration only increase with speed? If this is the case, the flywheel is out, as you'd feel the vibration with an increase in RPM.

Re: vibration problem

My centerforce DF clutch caused vibrations. I now have an SLP clutch i'm about to put in with a new flywheel. I hope that it'll fix the problem.

Re: vibration problem

I have the same vibration, in the clutch pedal that gets worse when RPM's climb, and i can't go over 90-110 for fear of vibrating the car apart.

I'll let ya know when i get my car back if the flywheel did anything. I've got a new tranny, yolks, driveshaft from inland drive empire that's supposed to be balanced, so that's the last thing to go!!

Re: vibration problem

Well, i got my car back last night (day late) and the results are in!!

The clutch pedal still vibrates!! It's not as bad at idle, but is just as bad at speed.

The clutch engages much better now, and it still vibrates, but not AS bad at 90-110.

I give up... I've replaced the flywheel, tranny, and driveshaft...

Re: vibration problem

Check the following:

wheel balance, do it even if you think its good
Check wheel bearings
try flipping your DS 180*

I had a vibration at about 80+ and it was my drive shaft

Honestly thats pretty much all it can be.

Ohh and if not, check your tires they may be worn out badly from a bad alignment, easiest is flip DS 180* and borrow all 4 new wheels/tires.

Make sure its not in your head, put it in 6th at low speed and see if you vibrate, if you do then you prolly have 1 dead cylinder that shows up under load.

Re: vibration problem

I had a vibration a while back that drove me crazy. It would start at about 52 MPH and got worse at 60 - 62 MPH. I could feel it in the floorpan and shifter. Not sure about the clutch pedal; I don't recall.
I tried wheels, tires, driveshaft, everything I could think of.

Finally, I replaced my Poly trans mount with a rubber one and the vibration was gone.
