ok i have gone throught a few different types of problems with vibration but this one i can't fix..... i feel it vibrating on my clutch petel and shifter when ever i drive hiway like 65 70 and up and as i go faster like 80 90 it gets even worse i tryed changing the angel of the trans it toned the feeling a little but didn't fix it .... i do notice that in 5 and 6 gear my car runs a little different..
its not the tires or rims and not the drive shaft cause i have gone throw that and just got new z06 chrome 17 rims...and goodyear f1 g3 ds tires and a 99 ss driveshaft balanced and put on and also my clutch is fairly new but i had this problem be4 i put a clutch in... so u guys tell me what u think it can be

Re: vibration problem

Brake rotor or stuck piston in the caliper maybe? How do the brakes feel when stopping? What does the vibration feel like if you rev it up in neutral?

Re: vibration problem

im having a simliar problem - vibration at around 2000 rpm or thereabouts...

when i'm idling it revs up just fine no problems. I checked exhaust parts and while i DO have a SLP loudmouth, none of the header flanges are rubbing or anything of that sort.

anyone have ideas?

thanks!

I know that this might sound stupid but do you have a hanes manual i think every car owner should have one
if not go to any place that sells them and look under the troubleshoot sectin and see if that helps I would type what it says but Im not sure where mine is at I think that 94m5 ganked it

Re: vibration problem

It could be your driveshaft being out of balance somehow... My friend had a vibration throughout the enitre drivetrain (including shifter) around 80 MPH -- he had his balanced and problem went away...

Re: vibration problem

No I did'nt

Now, I would check your Brake rotors. You've changed everything else that could be causing the problem. I would say Flywheel, but I doubt it.

* rear motor mount?
* grease the U-joints and see if that makes a difference.
* uh, dunno!

Re: vibration problem

if hes feeling it in the clutch pedal it self why not replace the clutch fork.... the way this kid drives, he does put stress on the car... (Come on will you know you do) Anyways, I would try placing the clutch fork, i replaced mine with the stock replacement viper one. When i replaced the stock clutch with the lt4 clutch i noticed alot more vibration in the pedal, it didnt bother me just annoy me, so i figured why not go super heavy duty like that, and it went away.

Re: vibration problem

sounds like clutch, did you notice it right after you put the new drive shaft in, it may be unbalanced, is the motor shaking when in neutral?

Re: vibration problem

Whom balanced your Driveshaft and to what RPM did they balance it?

I fought that nightmare for 2 years, and then said F-it and gutted/upgraded the entire driveline from the tranny back. When I bought my new driveshaft from Denny's I sat there talking with him for like an hour about the problems I was having and driveshafts in general. Basically the shop who I had been using for balancing my DS was only running it to ~3000 rpms, or with a M6, or right about 75mph (With 4.10's), which just happened to be where my vibe started. I'm now running a Denny's Nitrous Ready balanced to ~ 8K and my car is smooth as glass to 145 mph (That's the fastest I've taken it since I put the new driveline in).

Re: vibration problem

I have similar problems and it comes from the driveshaft.

1. It started when I tried to replace the driveshaft w/a carbon fiber one.
2. The C/F shaft didn't fit (OD was too large for the space occupied by the steel one) so I reinstalled my steel d/s.
3. That's when the vibration started. There are two variations of the vibes. a)When the speed is <90mph and I'm working my way up thru the gears, the vibes start at about 4K rpm and smooths out above 5K rpm. The second variation (b) starts when my mph is >90.
4. The vibration is felt thru the stick and sometimes thru the floorboards.
5. Balancing the d/s did not solve my problem. but I'll have to consider balancing at 8K rpm as posted here.

I read some very early posts about this vibration being very typical for our cars. I had my d/s balanced, but don't remember what the max rpm was. If you read the shop manual there is an instrument that helps diagnose/solve d/s vibration problems on the vehicle.

Re: vibration problem

I have same problem here. once I hit 85+ the vibration REALLY gets bad! and when i go to over 90 feels like the car is coming apart. Its kinda scary. I am trying to figure what it is. I am praying that its not the trans. wouldn't mind a new universal or even a new driveshaft i just cant afford a new trans.

Re: vibration problem

xstoyz, it probably isn't your trans. Check you ujoints and then another d/s if that doesn't help. Looks like you were leaning towards that anyway.
