Vibration dampner?

Do I need to run a dampner? I have an underdrive pulley and can run it w/out the dampner. Is this bad? The motor is internally balanced and blue-printed.

Re: Vibration dampner?

Yes, you need one. It dampens torsional (twisting) vibrations in the crank. A balanced rotating assy. just refers to balancing the reciprocating weight of the pistons and rods. The crank will stilll still twist/untwist regardless of balance. Without a harmonic balancer your crank will not last too long!

Re: Vibration dampner?

Been thinking about this, I have the underdrive puller and it fits down inside of the dampner. How does the dampner still do its job if it is not connected to the belt? Should I pull the udp off there and just run the stock dampner? I don't want to spin a bearing or break a crank.

Thanks,
Benji

Re: Vibration dampner?

The damper will work fine as long as it's connected to the crank,
