vibration after clutch instal

well i put my clutch in today. Had my flywheel resurfaced too. Now when i drive..it seems to vibrate alot. I know my ypipe is hitting the floor, i can hear it. But the vibration gets deep when im up around 5k+. Whether im stopped(REVVING it) or going..i can feel it through the shifter and my pedals..and steering wheel. Its a pretty deep viration.I know it isnt the driveshaft cuz it does it in neutral..any ideas?

Did you line the coloured mark on the pressure plate up with the white X marked on the edge of the flywheel? Its also possible that the pressure plate you got wasn't balanced properly. Is the clutch the only change you made?

Go back to the first question I asked. Did you line up the colored mark on the pressure plate to the white X on the side of the flywheel?

well i took it back apart..and i compared the old pressure plate to the new one and the old one has drill marks (where it was balanced) and the new one doesnt...could that be it?

New flywheel/PP should be balanced to the old one/PP, since your engine is externaly balanced to the old one too. I got lucky with my aluminum flywheel without balancing it.

well pp is now balanced..perfectly...and the flywheel is all good. vibrations still there...maybe it could be from my ripped tranny mount? its not completely broken..but its on its way. Hopefully that could be it.

Re: vibration after clutch instal

I have done many clutch installs and I never referenced the painted dot found on the PP to the flywheel. Mainly because I have no indicator on the flywheel to reference it to. After 3 or 4 PP's I have never had what you describe.

I doubt that it could be your PP, I would lean more toward the craftsmanship of resurfacing the flywheel or maybe the PP not being torqued correctly. Did you put a shim behind the flywheel? If so maybe the shim is bad.
What brand clutch?

Re: vibration after clutch instal

no shim..and the PP was done ****ty the first time....but i got it redone by a very good shop...becuase it was off a little bit. But it doesnt seem like its coming from there at all anymore. cuz its doing it exactly the same. Not to mention it is torqued perfectly this time. Last time i might of been a lil sloppy(never had this vibration) only thing I can think of is i remember tearing the tranny mount but not all the way. Hopefully that could be it.
