Thumbs up Very Impressed with Delteq!!!

My opti went out on my 1997 Pontiac Trans Am, I searched around for my different options including Dynaspark. Spoke with James the owner at Elitesparkplugs.com and he was very helpful with my questions, and had my unit shipped out via 2-day air to be in Los Angeles, CA Saturday morning. He was very helpful with my shipping needs and I was very satisifed with his customer service. As far as the Delteq system, it was a very easy install, everything was plug and play and we didn't have perform any trouble shooting. The car runs VERY strong, and there are no misfires at all, the plug wires are longer then they even have to be, which makes them very easy to work with. We routed the plug wires on the passenger side down behind the belt and alternator area to the front of the car where the Delteq was mounted with radiator shroud bracket. Both sides of the car were easy to route because the plug wires were nice and long. The bracket secures to the radiator shroud very securely and easily. I am very impressed with Delteq the unit makes my car run very strong!

I'll post some pics when I can, probably tomorrow. As far as power, the car feels ALOT stronger in the high RPM. MPG I don't know yet its only been in for about 3 days.

Re: Very Impressed with Delteq!!!

Ordered my Delteq last week, hopefully it will be here tomorrow. I have high expectations for the system. Glad to see someone very satisfied with their Delteq. Hopefully I will feel the same...

Re: Very Impressed with Delteq!!!

did you car start on the first turn of the key, as mine did?

do you think that the engine is idling smoother, now?

On passenger side, how did you route the plug wires? did you go under the ac and the back up to the stock wire loom?

Re: Very Impressed with Delteq!!!

I am looking to order a delteq kit tomorrow most likely- I have wasted 3 opti rotors in the last 6 months. But i am a lil concerned after searching it here and reading that some seem to be having problems still(seemingly with the opti portion of the distributer). I am hoping that it is just a few that are having troubles.

anyone here put alot of miles on their Delteq set up yet?

Re: Very Impressed with Delteq!!!

I'll have to take some pics this weekend. But honestly there really isnt much to see besides this. http://elitesparkplugs.com/images/delteq-rad.jpg

I mean the wires route very easy. And you have like 2 harnesses. One goes from the coils to the new delteq unit that takes the place of the ICM. And then there is a piggy back harness that goes from the passagerside harness on the intake manifold, to the coil packs. There isnt much to see. Thats an other awsome thing I love about this system, its so plug and play. No splicing, no drilling. The coil bracket uses the existing holes and bolts for your radiator shroud.

Re: Very Impressed with Delteq!!!

Yes it is. My install took me too long. Mainly because I did it at night, and I had problems working with my big hands and arms to do the plugs and wires. If you cut that time out, It would of only taken me a hour and a half, and thats including me reading the manual

I have long tube headers, which made the driver side a breeze to do. But as always 8 and 6 gave me hell. STUPID GM ENGINEERS WITH THEIR SMALL ENGINE BAYS!!!!!

Re: Very Impressed with Delteq!!!

If my opti seems to be working properly, is installing a Delteq a good upgrade? In other words, will I gain anything or should I spend my money for some other upgrade(s)?
