all the other guys are right in that you need to get that code. But it could be a plugged or bad injector. Just an idea would be to run some fuel injector cleaner through the car. That gets rid of carbon build up. I prefer the sea-foam brand and run it through my car every 5-10k miles.

Can you define surging? Rpms going up then back to correct idle or rpms falling then goin back to correct idle?
I have a stumble; idles at 750 to 850rpms then drops to 400rpms or so.

The code was for the knock sensor, and it has since gone completely away ??? Don't know why.

Anyhow, the car is still surging. By surging I mean loosing rpms then jumping up. For example, come to a stop @ 800 rpms. Then drops to 400-600rpms range. It recovers then surges up to 1000-1200 rpms. Then back down to 800rpms. This is all at idle. Also, at cruising at constant 2000 rpms, the car jerks slightly. I've got one last plug to change. If that doesn't fix it I'll be tacling the wires, then the O2's.

I can't wait to sell this thing

for the bad idle i would clean or replace the iac. while your at it you should clean the throttle body out. i did this and noticed a nice difference in throttle response. i do have a question. i also took my egr valve off to clean it. i cleaned it with carb/choke cleaner. i am haveing a surging/lungeing effect while at 1500 to 2000 rpms. this seemed to help but did not fix the problem. the egr valve did not stick and seemed ok but i am not an expert on this. it could possibly be opti, o2, or egr. i am not sure. suggestions would be great. thanks

Do you mean a lt4 knock sensor modual???

It may help you out if you are showing false knock, but you car already has a knock sensor. It holds all the coolant in the block

I have the exact same code, mines is because my a/c comp is bad, planning to fix that to day. The a/c comp made so much noise the car picked it up as knock, thus my cargot craptastic gas mileage and you could smell the fuel at wot. Running nasty rich.
