venting an unvented opti

I have read up on this procedures and now that the engine is apart it would be a good time to do it.

Current opti has only 5,000 miles on it and seems to be in reasonable shape.

Looks like all I have to do is get the hose kit and drill a few small holes and then it's plug and play.

But I am wondering if this procedure worth doing?

Anyone try it and have comments?

I don't think its as easy as drilling a few holes into your opti. I'm pretty sure you have to purchase a vented opti, not sure though. The vented opti has a better chance of lasting longer.

There is a procedure outlined in a corvette fever article on how to modify an unvented opti and give it venting capabilities.

A complete swap to a vented system involves a number of changes including (opti, timing cover, connectors, cam modification, and a few more) I am not contemplating this.
