Vented opti vs. non-vented

Vented opti vs. non-vented
I have a '93 and need a new opti.
I know I can swap in a vented opti, but I have to convert a few things over.
Is the vented opti worth paying the extra money to swap everything over or can I be fine with just going with the non-vented.
Money is a factor so I was wondering if I should spend the extra for the vented?

I have heard that the vented opti actually will fail more often. The reason being water gets in it eazier, so the non-vented is actually better. How did yours go bad? I once had a misfireing after driving through a large pool of water, but after about 1 week, and several getting on it's, it fixed it self.

when rebuilding my engine, my buddy noticed the cap was bad, but he had a spare. Unfortunately maybe that was bad too even though it looked good.
It has to be the opti because we have checked everything else:
1. compression test - 140
2. switched injectors around
3. adjusted rockers
4. new plugs and wires
The car kind of jerks around unless you get on it, and it pops when you let off the gas.
