vented opti vented correctly?

Is there a proper way to vent the opti? What I mean is should the fresh air absolutely come into the rotor side or into the distributor side before exiting to the intake manifold?

Also, what happens if you don't vent it?

I ask because I am having absolutely terrible results with the last 4 optis, all of which seem to last under 1500 miles and this is on 2 completely separate engines. All are AC Delco. Granted the latest one I only run over 3K RPM and consistently take it to 6300 RPM. Still should think it would last 10K+ miles (which would be many years for me).

Ben
