vented opti conversion - parts needed??
vented opti conversion - parts needed??
I'm trying to convert my 93 to a vented optispark, with double roller chain and electric water pump, and would like to know all the parts that are required.
So far, here's what I have (or whats currently on the way):
CSI electric water pump
Comp cams is sending me a longer dowel pin for the XE cam.
Combination motor sports is sending me one of there double roller chain sets
Timing cover - 12552426
Here's what I beleive is still needed:
Elec harness 12130319
OPTI (95 Vented) 1104032
Are there any more shafts or pins or anything else I need to make this work? I tried to contact Jason Cromer at Sam Taylor Buick, but he was out on vacation. While the other parts people could quote prices if given p/ns, they didnt know what parts were needed for the conversion.
I know there are a couple of vac parts
(Vac harness 12555323 & Vac fitting 14082470)
that are needed for the stock conversion, but I wont be running a stock airbox/boot, so I'll try fabricating something myself. I'm mainly concerned about any additional parts that might be need to drive the optispark, as I'm not all that familiar with the 95+ setup. I'd like to get the parts in the air so I can start this little project, but if I must, I'll wait till Jason returns.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

The vacuum harness also has a couple of valves that you will want to use. If you don't use them, you can damage the opti.
This is only part of the vacuum hose side and not the complete double hose assembly.

Thanks for the warning. That makes sense - incase of backfires and such.
Also, can you give me any insight on how the opti is driven in the vented versions? Maybe that would help me dermine if I need any other additional parts. I know the non-vented like my current one use a double keyed shaft from the opti to the cam gear. I'm sure this isnt used in the vented versions since the later model cam gears dont have the keyway for the earlier model keyed shafts.
