Valvetrain Questions

I have 86k miles and a fair amount of valvetrain noise. I plan on getting some new valve springs and probably roller rockers, too.

My question is, at 86k should I be concerned with my lifters? Could that be the noise I am hearing (pretty sure it's the LT1 ticking lifter noise)? What would you guys recommend?

TIA

I had the same problem. A fellow that I know who builds hot engines suggested that I add CD2 High Detergent to my oil when it's clean. Presto noise is gone  Seems if your car sits a lot, things gum up even with fresh oil. If yours is a scond car that may be the problem ? Otherwise try a valve adjustment as these cars are a b_ _ _h to work on !

The intake HAS to come off to do the lifters, correct?

Anymore suggestions?

Yes.

If you are on a budget do the springs and RRs. Be certain to adjust the RRs/vavlves properly and maybe that will address the noise you are hearing.

A good set of lifters is about $200 and Fel-Pro intake gaskets are about $25 and may not be necessary.
