Valve spring woes.

I may have posted my mod list too early, we're having a hell of a time getting my aftermarket (Patriot) springs in the rear under the cowel. The very rear ones, we can't compress it enough to make room. These are LT1 springs but they are taller than the stock ones...I need to know what tool I need if I can get it locally. Gotta have this done tomorrow...thanks guys!

I used something like this . . . .

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/WMR-W84002/

This was done with the intake removed but the engine was in the car.

We had to bend it a lil more to get the tool to fit under the cowl.

We managed. We used a tool very much like that, cut down to size with a socket welded on the end so we could get leverage from outside of under the cowel with a ratchet. Worked well

Even though you are done.....

I bought this from Crane when they were in business.

Some gents on a Corvette forum are having some made and are doing a group purchase right now.

I'm not sure if there are differences in the LT and LS style head. I would guess so....the one being made above is for LS. I know with my tool, it just slips over the rocker studs, you put on the polylocks or nuts, and crank it down. Works great.

Comp Cams has a very similar dual spring compressor and you can still get them. This style actually makes it fun to change springs with the heads still in the car. I'll be selling mine on ebay once I'm sure I don't need it anymore.

We had to "MacGuyver up" our tool a lil when we got to the back cylinders but it did work.

That Crane tool is a pretty nice looking valve spring tool. That would probably work real well.
