valve spring question!!!!!
ok guys im having a new motor built and the cam is COMP Cams Xtreme Fuel Injected Camshafts
Camshaft, Hydraulic Roller Tappet, Advertised Duration 292/ 300, Lift .584/ .579,......it calls for behive valve springs but doesnt say wich ones....any ideas?????please?????

918 is what Comp wants you to use, see http://www.compcams.com/technical/Ca...07/168-169.pdf Second page near the bottom shows the desired accessories for each cam on 1st page, look at it as two pages side by side and you'll understand.
Better choices out there tho. Far cheaper choices that are better for app as well.

However, a far better choice might be Patriot performance Gold dual springs, around 250 with cups, titanium retainers, shims, and locks.
Similar pressures, a little higher than the Comp 918 beehives.
Search Comp site for the spring chart, search TSP I think has a sale on the Patriot springs, compare specs, then look at what those beehives will really cost with seat cups and retainers, even if you stayed with steel retainers.

Thanks for the info guys.I will check out the patriot springs.I just want to make sure i have a good enough spring to handle the aggressive ramp rate of the XFI camshaft.Espesially at higher rpm.
