valve spring install cost
valve spring install cost
Well, I certainly do not feel like changing out my springs...I developped a huge rattle in the number 6 intake or exhaust valve from the inner damper cracking in half So I'm wondering what you guys think the average cost is going to be. And I bought the 987-16 comp springs that have the same specs as the 986-16 "drop ins" except of course they are a little stronger, up to .600/. Thaks for the help guys.. I live in Massachusetts as well so anyone from there would be great

Hi,
I'm from West Springfield, MA, now going to school in NYC. Changing the springs is not a big deal. I changed mine last winter using the compressed air method. The TDC method is supposed to be even easier. I would encourage you to do it yourself. The job is too simple to justify $60.00 an hour, IMHO.
If you are dead set on hiring a professional, you might try the Newington Corvette Center. I've heard good things about the shop in the past year.

if you have stock heads and are using the 987-16's, your heads i believe have to be machined because the springs are too large and do not seat properly. They do however make a adapter i think for them, or the ls1 springs, and then you can put them on. but then you also have to worry about them hitting your valve covers. But i might be wrong and if i am then putting springs on is not hard using the air compressor method. I just know that i went with the 987's with a cam package and never used them due to them not seating properly.
