Valve lash for solid roller cam (no cam card)

Hey guys,

I'm asking for advice regarding what lash I should use for my solid roller cam. I am the second owner of this thing, and I have no cam card. From what I've gathered, I have an Advanced Induction custom grind solid roller (255/262, 668/662, 110 lsa), CC lifters and rockers, and AI pushrods. Do you think .020" (cold) is a proper lash clearance for both the intake and exhaust sides?

Thanks.

you should be able to go to the manufacturer and get the specs

20 cold sounds a little tight more like 30 cold

just my .002$worthless

but you should do it hot anyway, just cold at .030 to get started

Exactly. You can't guess at lash specs for a solid lifter cam. Unless someone responds that has that very same cam, you need to talk to AI.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I contacted AI and they can't really help me because the cam was sold so long ago (in 2004) and they don't have records of exactly what was sold. So I'm to the point where I just want to gather as many knowledgeable opinions as possible and make the best guess I can (or have my builder make the best guess he can).

AI said this: Typically .010-.025… if you can’t find [the records] then I’d start at .010 hot and go no further than .018” or so...It doesn’t matter if you set the lash hot or cold, it is only specified because the difference is going to be approximately +.006” when it is at operating temp.

My builder is going to assemble the entire engine on a stand, and he wants to set the lash cold. So I'm thinking go with .070" cold = ~.013" hot. Opinions welcome. Knowing what others are running for their AI solid rollers would be helpful.

.022" cold would equal .016" hot
