valve lash with engine out

valve lash with engine out

can i set valve lash with the engine out of the car? how? i just bought a 383 and i have the engine out so might as well throw the heads on now.

It's easier to set the valve lash with the engine out of the car as you have easy access to all the rocker arm nuts. Once the engine is installed, 8 of the 16 values are under the cowling.
