Post Valve Lash

I bought 1.6 Roller Rockers, specifically these rockers and have hydro lifters of course like the rest of you. Do i need to set valve lash on these, or do i just tourqe them to the 18 ft/lb spec?

Re: Valve Lash

But these are "LT4" style roller rockers. I will set the zero lash, doesn't seem to be to hard to do. I just am curious why they would put that 18 tourqe spec in there.

Re: Valve Lash

'Real' LT4 rockers go on a 10mm SHOULDERED stud.. [that's how they can be torqued down and be 'adjusted'..]
If you have 3/8" LT1 studs[and adjustment nuts with the poly locks] you have to adjust the valves..[as a side note the LT4 heads sold by the dealer come with the regular LT1 studs.. AND the LT4 Hotcam kit rockers are for the regular LT1 studs.. not the 10mm shouldered studs..]
The studs do interchange in the heads if needed..
Boils down to where'd you get the rockers? and which type of studs do you have?

Forgot to add you don't have 'LT4' rockers if you bought those in your link.. they are LT1 rockers[ with the poly locks]
You have to set lash on those..
A lot of confusion on this subject, as most people think the LT4 hotcam kit RR's are 'LT4' roller rockers .. technically they are LT1 RR's and the LT4 heads the dealer sells come with LT1 studs, not LT4 studs..[confused yet? ]

Re: Valve Lash

I hate to beat a dead horse but.....................if you can't figure it out by looking at shoebox's web site it REALLY would not be best for you to do it yourself. It is very easy if you pay attention and follow instructions. BTW if your reading this again shoebox, thanks you did a great job on your website FULLY explaining this procedure!! I set mine once and have never had to re-adjust them.

Exclamation Re: Valve Lash

That noise is probably the valves clacking b/c when you cold adjust you need to know what you r doing. In most cases once you get it running you need to adjust again w/ a valve cover w/ the top cut out. There r techniques to performing these operations so you need to get a manual or a friend who has done this. You could bend a push rod or do worse

Re: Valve Lash

Did you cut out the v/c supports on top? They will rub causing that noise..

Re: Valve Lash

How "warm" does the engine need to be to do an accurate adjustment? Do you need to drive 20 miles or just let it idle for 10 minutes?
