Valve adjustment. How often?

How often should I adjust my valve lash? My car is a tad down on power, specifically the "right now" throttle response. I have replaced the air filter, cleaned the MAF and TB, replaced fuel filter, and put my old plug wires back on (took off the Taylor OTVC set).

I have Comp NSA 1.6 Rockers. They have not been adjusted since the summer of 2006 and I was wondering if maybe those rockers need to be adjusted more often.

Unlikely that the valves are the source of your power lose. Your lifters are hydraulic and therefore don't need periodic adjustment. Solid lifters require regular maintenance. Additionally your rocker arms should have locking retainers to keep them from coming loose over time. Are you hearing any clattering of your valve train?

No clatter, just a little tick. I have noticed it for a while and a guy the other day said it sounded like my valves were out of adjustment.

I'm not sure if it's a slight exhaust leak or if it is top end noise, but this power loss is frustrating and I am running out of things to check out.

The PCM might be pulling timing due to you knock sensor; need to run some diagnostic software and read your knock counts.
