Question V8 Swap done, few questions??

Ok, the shop called me today and told me my car is done, but there were a few issues. I'm busy today and won't be able to get my car til tomorrow though so won't see it til then. My car is a 97 RS Vert, and doner car was a 97z28. First, I gave them a new catco high flow cat to install, and he said he was unable to install that because of the mufflex Y pipe comming off the Jet Hot LT headers. He said the only way he can think of making it work would be to cut my borla pipe back some and have it fit there. Or he said find 2 smaller cats. What do you guys think? Second, he said that the EGR tubes that came with the headers won't fit in the hole or something like that. He said maybe there's another kit that was supposed to come with it or something? So those aren't hooked up. 3rd is my stock v6 drum rear with 3:08's is still in. They will be installing my 3:73's in the v8 rear sometime this week, and have to go back Sat to have the v8 rear put in. Would that be ok to drive around on my stock v6 rear for a few days? Now, I have emissions living here in pa, and they made it even harder to beat now by just plugging a machine into your computer having the obd2, and if you even have an SES light on, you fail. Now what do I need to do, or tell them how to get my EGR lines hooked up, and add cats to the Y pipe somehow? Thank you.

Shawn

Can anyone out there help me out? Is it possible Jet Hot sent me the wrong tubes, or are they all the same? And I know someone out there has an answer to the cat?

I am guessing that its the AIR tubes that are not hooking up, and you just need two fittings for it, because they changed sizes over the years from GM. Basically you need two $5 fittings to replace the stock ones. You can find the right size by searching this forum.

As far as the cat, I would just have them cut the borla back a little.

The v6 rear should be fine, just don't put really sticky tires on it and try to launch it.

I'm just wondering how much did it cost in labor to have that swap done?

Yeah, I was talking about the air tubes. I'll have to do a search then to find the size of the fitting, thanks for that. I just don't like the idea of cutting my $600 exhaust for the cat. And the total labor is $1500.00 This includes the transfer from everything needed from the wrecked donor car I bought with 30k miles on it, and the header install, and 3:73 gear install. I paid $2500 for the wrecked 97z donor. It was the white ann edition with the white seats and wheels. Parted out the parts I didn't need like the seats and things here and there and got like $1200 back from that. So it was less than $3k for everything. They wanted to install a higher stall TC for me also if I could have found one reasonably priced, which I couldn't. So I'll just do that later on.

AIR tubes changes from year to year. Find plugs and forget about the system. Stick a reducer at the end of the Y, and weld the cat there. Any farther back and it wouldnt be effective (wouldnt get hot enough)

Re: V8 Swap done, few questions??

The V6 rear wll most likely be harder to break than the V8 one due to the fact that it's an open differential.
