Using cherry picker to hoist LT1, where to hook on to?

Looks like I'll finally be putting my new oil pan gasket on this weekend. I have a cherry picker(engine hoist), but I need to know where I can attach the chains at to lift the motor up a little bit.

Thanks

Do I just back two bolts out enough to get a link of one of the chains around it?

i used the bolts with the stud on top of them, back the nut off then put the chain and nut back on, that way you dont break any kind of seal with the intake manifold and heads

you don't need a cherry picker to change your oil pan gasket. a floor jack with a block of wood on the oil pan to lift it then two short pieces of 2x4 under the motor mounts to hold the engine up.

Well I'm just looking for the easiest way here..... I was going to do it that way before, but now that I have access to a cherry picker I figured it would be easier

I used the "Happy Hooker" from TPIS. It is $40.00 bucks.

www.tpis.com
Pg 110 of the on-line catalog. Just search for Happy Hooker.

I like it. You do not have to use any chains. Just remove the fuel rail and bolt it to the intake manifold. You do not even have to remove the hood.

Well crap, looking under the hood it looks like it's going to be a real mutherf*cker to chain that cherry picker up ANYWHERE on the top of the motor. I was half tempted to wrap a chain around a primary tube on the header on each side, but I think I'll try the jack trick
