URGENT: Tire suggestions needed ASAP
I have stock rims, 16x8 which currently have 245/50/16s...I need new tires and want the best bang for my buck in a Z rated tire.
1) first question is what is the next size I can step up to in the rear, I don't care about rotation.
2) what is the best tire for great summer/dry traction and decent wet traction?
note: I've heard the Kuhmo's were poor, so were the Goodrich KDW's and Goodyear F1's. I am looking hard at the Nitto's with the 380 tread wear compoud...not the 555's but the 511's or something like that, next step down from the 555.
Also I'm checking out the Firestone Firehawk SZ50 EP and I like the tire compound tech on it: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....=45ZR6FHSZ50EP
Thanks

I've got the Nitto 450's which are rated the next rating below Z. Forgot what it is. How often are you going to be driving above 150mph anyway? I got them from here www.discounttiredirect.com

best bang for the buck would probally be the kuhmo 712's or the yokohama es100's. i don't know who told you bad stuff about the kuhmo's, but for the price you can't beat them. i would personally get yoko's over the kuhmo's but that is just me. the sz50's are a good tire. i was going to get these. i have not heard bad reports about the kdw's either. the F1's are new so i can't help you much on those. bridgestone has a new potenza coming out in a couple of months that are supposed to be good. the potenza 730's were good tires but were noisy. i ended up going with toyo T1-S's. they are more expensive but a few mustang fans talked me into them. they do not come in 245/50/16 so i had to get 245/45/16. they are a lower profile tire. good prices are found at treaddepot.com. good luck

Do u want best bang for you buck or good tires that are cheap??
Nitto 555Rs -- best bang for your buck
They are about $140 and have the best traction but they don't last to long on the street.
Kuhmos(sp?) -- Beat cheap tire
These have great traction for the prices, about $80. And won't break the band.
Also you can run the Kuhmo 255/50 -16 on your car fine.

I have had every 245/50 under the sun. My favorites would have to be Goodyear Eagle HP and Firestone SZ50. The Eagle HP is only H rated but it has the handling of a Z rated tire like the SZ50. The Eagle HP is really wide too where as the SZ50 looked like a anorexic. The Kumho 711 and 712 may be cheap but you get what you pay for and in tires that means alot.
